You’re probably here because you love skiing and being outside. And you probably know the benefits that wilderness can bring from firsthand experience.
Unfortunately, not everyone has that opportunity.
Enter Big City Mountaineers. For over 20 years, Big City Mountaineers (BCM) has combined the power of mentoring with wilderness experiences to develop character, integrity, responsibility and decision making skills that lead to positive behavioral change in youth. They work exclusively with under-resourced, racially diverse youth, most between the ages of 13 and 18, who often have no experience outside their neighborhoods. BCM has a proven track record of developing healthy, caring and successful young people by: increasing academic achievement; reducing violence; reducing drug use; and increasing physical activity.
As you can imagine, providing these programs takes substantial resources, both of time and money. To that end, I am personally working to fundraise $4,000 to support BCM’s programs through their Summit for Someone program.
